Wings For Success
Wings for Success was founded in 1997 by an ambitious group of five Chester County women in response to the Welfare to Work initiative. With Laurie Todd’s vision and support from Cecily Getz, Kathy Smith Granahan, Beth Heft and Marianne Plucienik, a grass roots organization was formed to create a board of directors, solicit donated clothing and operating funds, find volunteers, and secure partnerships with local social service organizations and job training programs, and find a permanent location. During this time of formation, clothing was stored in the founders’ basements, and clients were served by our volunteers taking clothing to the various job-training locations in their own cars.
Background Over the past several years, Wings opened a facility at our current location at 326 N. Walnut Street in West Chester, PA, and has established relationships with a number of large and small businesses that offer in-kind services benefiting the organization and our clients. A network of referral partners who send clients to Wings For Success has also been established. These include job training programs, shelters and a variety of social service agencies and private charitable organizations. We’ve come a long way in the past 10 years,...however, we need your help to continue growing. Check out the "You Can Help" links on the left side navigation bar of our Web site to learn about all the many ways you can support our efforts.
